Where it started
Motorsport was a huge passion of mine from a young age. When I started racing, I wanted to learn properly, put in the work and see how far I could take it.
I’m Nieko Scoles, the 2026 Toyota 86 Winter Series Champion and Toyota 86 Trophy Series runner-up, racing car 861 out of Invercargill, Southland.

Hi, I’m Nieko Scoles. I’m 16 years old and from Invercargill, Southland, and I race car 861.
In 2026 I finished at the top of the Toyota 86 Winter Series standings and became the overall Winter Series Champion. I also finished runner-up in the Toyota 86 Trophy Series.
Across the four-round season I took three race wins, seven podiums, two pole positions and five fastest laps. I’m proud of the speed, but I’m even more proud of the consistency it took to finish the season as champion.
One of the moments I am most proud of was being selected as a Hayden Paddon Junior Driver. Winning the Winter Series and earning a lease car for the Bridgestone GR86 Championship are the next big steps in the journey.
My focus now is to keep improving, make the next opportunity count and represent my family, team and sponsors properly.
“Winning the Winter Series proves what our team can do. Now I’m focused on making the next step count.”
Every season has made me more focused on reaching the next level.
Motorsport was a huge passion of mine from a young age. When I started racing, I wanted to learn properly, put in the work and see how far I could take it.
Competing in different events and conditions has helped me improve my racecraft, understand the car and become more consistent.
Three wins, seven podiums, two poles and five fastest laps put me at the top of the overall Winter Series standings. I also finished runner-up in the Toyota 86 Trophy Series.
My long-term goal is to progress through New Zealand motorsport and race professionally overseas.
The Winter Series title is secured. Now I’m focused on taking the next step and I would love to have you along for the journey.
